15 - Hellboy
Hellboy works for the BPRD an non government organisation to battle the dark world and nazi occult. He was a baby demon summoned by the nazis and raised by the Americans, he grew into a secret agent with red skin, a tail, saw off horns and a big stone hand. Probably American Comics best known hero had two successful movies and a huge following. Any top 20 list must have Hellboy in there.
14 - Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
Based on a magical 40's character Alan Scott, the Green Lantern was reintroduced to the DC world in 1959 in the form of Hal Jordan. The Green Lantern has multiple heroes and each of them processes the magical ring. I chose Hal over the others as he was one of the founding members of the JLA. The film wasn't great, but fingers crossed could be the start to a JLA film in the future.
13 - Robin/Nightwing (Dick Grason)
The original side kick, Robin made Batman be one the father figure we grew to love in the original Batman TV show and Comics. Nightwing however has been used by several characters, but I picked Dick Grayson as Nightwing as him retiring at 18 and becoming Nightwing opened the door to making the city of Gotham a bigger place and helping The Batman franchise grow. This also bought us the Young Justice League. Robin is so much more then a fist punch and the "holy cow Batman" line.
12 - Thor
The Demi-God has only made the list because of the films, before that his adventures have all been a little too mythological for my taste, however the Thor film showed a great side to the God of Thunder. A humane side and a side that falls for a mortal that he vows to protect her planet. All this and the comical side of him in the Avengers films has got him onto this list.
11 - Hulk
A tragic Jekyll and Hyde story of a brilliant mind. Mirrored by some awful movies that didn't do the big green guy any justice. However like Thor, the character is now under the guidance of Joss Whedon and played by Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk is making a comeback and there is call for a revamp of his films. Good to have you back Hulk
